In the safety of his arms lies passion…and danger.
NYPD Detective Gray Yates has major trust issues. Protecting a serenely beautiful woman hiding enough secrets to take down an entire city wasn’t something he bargained for. She’s a loving single mother, hot as hell, and protecting her will test every ounce of his resolve.
Alex Romano is being blackmailed by the Pyramid—an elusive international organization of assassins every cop in the world is after. When Alex tries severing ties with them they refuse to let her go. The darkly dangerous detective she’s irresistibly drawn to is her only hope of staying out of jail. He just might be her savior…or her downfall.
Despite efforts to maintain his professionalism, Gray can’t deny the fiery passion Alex ignites in him. In an explosive confrontation, Alex’s lies are revealed and Gray is faced with the most important decision of his life: trust the woman he’s falling in love with, or arrest her.
Each book in the NYPD Blue & Gold series is a standalone, full-length story that can be enjoyed out of order.
Book #1: Burnout
Book #2: Blood Money
This book was received via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review
This is the story of Alex Romano, a single mum with a son who has a rare form of leukimia. Working for the NYPD as an administration assistant, she meets up with Detective Gray Yates and sparks fly, but it takes them a year to actually go on their first date together.
Gray is investigating the Pyramid Assassins when he finds out that Alex was paid $20k and to wait for a phone call, after having a steamy night together this really takes the cake for him, is she another woman he can’t trust, Alex has secrets but these secrets are what are keeping her son safe. And Gray and the NYPD don’t seem to understand why she did it.
This was a really gripping storyline, but I was getting a bit annoyed at Gray for the way he kept treating Alex, although he wasn’t physically abusing her like she had in her past, he was kind of mentally abusing her. It’s like every time he found something new on her which brought out her lies he turned cold, even though he knew he loved her.
This was the 2nd book in the NYPD Blue & Gold Series, although it is not necessary to read the first book it can be read as a standalone. But to get an idea about Detective Gray Yates the first book should be read – Burnout by Tee O’Fallon
