Charmed, Texas… quaint, quirky, and when it comes to romance, there’s no place quite as enchanting.
Lanie Barrett didn’t mean to lie. Spinning a story of a joyous marriage to make a dying woman happy is forgivable, isn’t it? Lanie thinks so, especially since her beloved Aunt Ruby would have been heartbroken to know the truth of her niece’s sadly loveless, short-of-sparkling existence. Trouble is, according to the will, Ruby didn’t quite buy Lanie’s tale. And to inherit the only house Lanie ever really considered a home, she’ll have to bring her “husband” back to Charmed for three whole months–or watch Aunt Ruby’s cozy nest go to her weasel cousin, who will sell it to a condo developer.
Nick McKane is out of work, out of luck, and the spitting image of the man Lanie described. He needs money for his daughter’s art school tuition, and Lanie needs a convenient spouse. It’s a match made… well, not quite in heaven, but for a temporary arrangement, it couldn’t be better. Except the longer Lanie and Nick spend as husband and wife, the more the connection between them begins to seem real. Maybe this modern fairy tale really could come true…
This is a great small town romance of Lanie Barnett, whose Aunt has just died, Aunt Ruby had taken Lanie in when her parents had died, so when the will is read, to keep the home she was brought up in she needs to bring home her husband or the house goes to her cousins who will sell it off for condo’s.
As Lanie now lives in New York, she had been telling her Aunt that she was happily married and not to worry. But this lie caught up to her and now she needs to find the one man who looks like the description of the husband she lied about. On stopping at a diner she meets up with Nick McKane, she offers him $500 to pretend to be her husband and then when the will is read he can go back to his life. But when they turn up and the will is read to them it seems that Aunt Ruby had other ideas and they had to stay together in the house for three months.
This is a really funny romance of them trying to lie there way through the small town and suddenly finding the love between, which is what Aunt Ruby wanted for Lanie all the time, to find real happiness and love.
Can’t wait to read the next instalment in the “Charmed in Texas” series
