Sometimes, even true love needs a kick in the…
Claire Miller fell in love with Jake in the third grade. Years later, one hot night of reckless passion changed things between them forever. Jake rocked her world, but Claire had plans for her life. Knowing she could never be what he needed, she let him go and has missed him every day since.
Jake Walker knew the first time he saw Claire, when he was nine years old, that he wanted to marry her. At seventeen, he let her go. But seven years later, the sight of her hit him like a punch to the gut. Every cell in his body demanded that she was ‘The One’. But can he convince Claire?
I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED AN ADVANCE READER COPY OF THIS BOOK
This is the story of Jake Walker, who after his adoptive mother dies, she leaves a video message for her sons, to open their card six weeks after her death. This card was written by the ten year old boys of what their dreams would be.
One of Jake’s was that he would marry the love of his life Claire Miller, but she left him seven years ago to around the world on an archaeological dig. But she has to return home as her father is going in for surgery. When Jake and Claire meet up again it is still instant attraction but tension is still there as Claire still wants to keep working as an archaeologist and Jake wants to stay home and tend the ranch. We find as they get closer that they are still in love with eachother, but can only three weeks be enough. Jake wants forever and a family and married life with Claire but Claire feels that she will be trapped in a life stuck at home with the kids and not doing what she loves.
This was a great story by Amanda Adams and it showed how if you love someone you can do anything. I can’t wait to read the next instalment of the Walker Brothers.
